Hi! In this issue: Upcoming Device for Vertigo?Additional ResourcesUpcoming Device for Vertigo?It was actually in 2021 that a device for vertigo received the “Breakthrough Device” designation from the FDA in the United States - for the treatment of vertigo.Since then, research has continued. The device, from Otolith Labs, is actually a headband. According to the company, the device "uses precisely tuned vibrations to interact with the acceleration sensors in the inner ear, mitigating the symptoms of vertigo." They call it "non-invasive Vestibular Resonance Therapy" or "nVRT technology". The device (apparently going by the name of OtoBand is only at the beginning of its testing journey, but the hope is that it may help with vestibular migraine symptoms, and even motion sickness from virtual reality. About 1/4 to 1/3 or even more of migraine patients experience some kind of vertigo, and the symptom can be very disabling. We may be waiting for better treatments, but there is help available.
