Looking for migraine doctors?

When you need proper treatment, how do you find migraine doctors that can really help you?

Here are some suggestions for finding a doctor, some online directories of doctors, and a chance to have your say about your experiences!

Do I have the right doctor?

Here are some questions to ask yourself if you're wondering about switching doctors:

• Does my doctor listen to my concerns, or does she seem to just brush me off or not believe me?
• Does my doctor seem to know about the proper diagnosis and treatment of migraine?
• Is my doctor willing to try new things or has she given up?
• Does my doctor take the time to listen to me, or is she always in a hurry?
  

If these questions bring out some concerns, you have a couple of options. If you're generally happy with your doctor, you might want to try talking to her about your concerns. If that doesn't help, take a look around for a new doctor (see below).

It's important that you're satisfied, because not only do you need clear, correct information, but you also need to stay motivated yourself to keep trying new things.

Finding migraine doctors

There are directories online of migraine specialists that can get you started:

• Migraine doctors by region in the USA 
• Migraine/headache doctors in Canada (by province)
• specialists and clinics in the UK
• Migraine doctors worldwide, and more doctors and clinics

Other migraine websites will give you information upon request:

• The National Headache Foundation (USA)
• The World Headache Alliance 

You can also try posting a request on a newsgroup, such as Yahoo!'s Migraine Group.
